Bhubaneswar: After witnessing a steep rise in daily cases of Covid-19 infections in the last couple of months, the overall positivity rate at present is on a decline mode in Odisha. From 24 percent few weeks back, the overall Covid-19 positivity rate has now slipped below 10 per cent, said Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra on Sunday.
“There was a time when the positivity rate in Odisha stood at 23 per cent. Now the positivity rate has come down to 9.5 per cent and it is a good sign as it reflects that the transmission is decreasing due to surveillance activities. It also suggests that the steps which have been taken to contain the Covid transmission are yielding results,” said Mohapatra.
According to Mohapatra, the overall Covid-19 positivity rate is gradually reducing and if the trend continues then Odisha will be placed in a good position as far as dealing with the pandemic situation is concerned. The Health Services Director informed that the Odisha government has adopted 3T formula- Track, Testing and Testing to contain the Covid-19 outbreak in the State.

Already, as per the directions of the Chief Minister, an integrated surveillance activities including door-to-door surveillance is being carried out and it will continue for three months, said Mohapatra.
Mohapatra further informed that already testing has been increased in different parts of the State to track persons infected with the virus early so that proper treatment can be provide to them. 14 more labs will be set up in different parts of the State.
“For proper treatment of Covid-19 positives, Odisha is now having adequate number of beds, ICUs and ventilator facilities. Similarly, steps are being taken to set up required infrastructure to provide treatment to children who are also likely to be affected by Covid-19,” Mohapatra added.
