Manas Dutta, son of deceased BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta will contest from Balasore Sadar while Rajkishore Behera is chosen as candidate for Tirtol.
“I thank Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Pratap Sarangi and all party workers for showing trust on me. We are with the people and continue to do so in the future. I will follow te footprints of my father and start from where he has left,” Dutta said.
Asked about the ruling BJD’s prospects for poll, Dutta said, “We are not scared of the BJD’s strategies. The voters will choose right candidate on November 3. By the grace of the voters and my father, BJP will win the election.”
Earlier, Congress had said, it would declare its candidates for the by-polls, whereas the BJD is yet to announce candidates.
The by-polls to both the seats have been necessitated by the demise of sitting BJP MLA Madan Mohan Dutta ( Balasore) and sitting BJD legislator Bishnu Das (Tritol).
