Ram Mandir Consecration ceremony culminates with unveiling of Ram Lalla Idol at Ayodhya

Realising a 500-year-old dream, the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya finally culminated on Monday.

Carrying a silver ‘chhatra’ placed on a red cloth amidst the playing of ‘Mangal Dhvani’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi climbed up the stairs of the newly constructed Ram temple and performed ‘Sankalp’ within the 84 seconds ‘Abhijit Muhurat’ as part of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla.

He then went into the ‘Garbh Griha’ amid the chanting of mantras to complete the remaining rituals. Army helicopters showered flower petals on the temple premises when the consecration took place.

Crafted by the skilled hands of sculptor Arun Yogiraj from Mysuru, the 51-inch-tall idol, captures the image of a five-year-old Lord Ram standing gracefully on a lotus, all meticulously carved from a single block of stone.

The grand event saw the presence of around 7,000 VVIPs from across the nation which includes actors, sportspersons, industrialists, politicians, etc. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

The ceremony was completed amid the blowing of conch shells and a helicopter showering flower petals on the temple.

PM Modi followed a strict 11-day ‘anushthan’ and slept on the floor and had coconut water before the ceremony. He also visited several temples across India ahead of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Mandir and took a holy dip at the Rameswaram 'Angi theerth' beach.
