On January 22 when the grand consecration ceremony of Ram Temple in Ayodhya will take place, the residents of Sambalpur town will light 1,11,000 earthen lamps on the banks of Ayodhya pond in the Mahanadi River.
The residents of Sambalpur town are bracing up to celebrate the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya. On January 22, they will illuminate the banks of Mahanadi’s Ayodhya pond by lighting 1,11,000 earthen lamps. A firework show will also be organised on that day.
With the day nearing, local women are now busy washing and putting out the lamps to dry.

“We are lucky that we will witness the consecration ceremony of Ram temple after a long wait of 500 years. So, we all are working with enthusiasm,” said a woman.
“We are also trying to construct a replica of Ayodhya temple here on January 22. Besides lighting 1,11,000 lamps, another attraction of the evening will be the Mahanadi alati by nine priests who will specially come from Banaras. There will also be fireworks,” said an organiser.
