In a shocking incident that has left Bengaluru residents stunned, a 32-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband in full public view. The attack, driven by suspicion of infidelity, unfolded at a busy bus stand in the Kamakshipalya area, with the victim’s teenage daughter forced to witness the horrifying crime.
The Incident
The victim, identified as Rekha, was stabbed 11 times by her husband, Lohitashwa, at the Sunkadakatte bus stand. Witnesses said the altercation began as a heated argument before turning violent. Lohitashwa stabbed Rekha twice, dragged her a short distance, and then repeatedly attacked her with a knife, leaving bystanders terrified. Those who tried to intervene were threatened as the accused brandished the weapon before fleeing the scene.

The Victim’s Background
Originally from Sira, Rekha had moved to Bengaluru four months ago. She had a 12-year-old daughter from her first marriage and secretly married Lohitashwa, a 43-year-old divorcee, just three months ago after a year-and-a-half-long courtship. Rekha had also helped him secure work as a driver at her workplace. Police reports revealed that the couple frequently quarrelled after their marriage, with marital discord at the centre of their conflicts.
Police Action
Rekha was rushed to a nearby private hospital but succumbed to her injuries. A murder case has been registered at Kamakshipalya police station. Hours later, Lohitashwa, son of Rangaiah, surrendered voluntarily to the police.
The brutal crime has once again brought to light the dangers of unchecked domestic disputes escalating into violence. As investigations continue, Rekha’s tragic death serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for stronger measures to address domestic conflict and safeguard women.
