  • Hirakud dam authorities, on Saturday, opened eight more sluice gates of the reservoir as water level of the dam continues to increase following rainfall in the upper catchment areas.

  • The flood situation in Baitarani and Mahanadi is under control, informed Engineer-in-cof the State Water Resources Department, Bhakta Ranjan Mohanty. There are reports of breaches at two places, however, the water level of all rivers receding as there has been no rainfall, added Mohanty.

    He further said that the peak flood will pass through low-lying areas of Kendrapara district this afternoon.
