UPSC Recruitment 2021: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a fresh notification invited online applications for UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination 2021. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through on the official website-www.upsc.gov.in on or before October 27, 2020.

Age Limit
For Chemist (Group 'A'): A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age as on January 1, 2021.
For Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology) Group ‘A’, Scientist ‘B’(Chemical) Group ‘A’ and Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’: The candidate must be between 21 and 32 years of age as January 1, 2021.
Educational Qualification
For Chemist Group A: The candidate must have a degree in M. Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a recognised university.
For Scientist ‘B’(Hydrogeology) Group A: Master’s degree in Geology or applied Geology or Marine Geology or Hydrogeology from a recognised university.
For Scientist ‘B’(Geophysics) Group ‘A’: Master of Science degree in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Applied Geophysics or Marine Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Technology) (Applied Geophysics) from a recognised university.
Application Fee
Candidates (except Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability Candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay fee of Rs 200.
UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Exam Centres
The Preliminary Examination will be held in several exam centres across the country including Ahmedabad, Bangaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Patna, Prayagraj (Allahabad), Shillong, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram.
The allotment of centres will be on the "first-apply-first-allot" basis and once the capacity of a particular centre is attained, the same will be frozen. Applicants, who cannot get a centre of their choice due to ceiling, will be required to choose a centre from the remaining ones. Applicants are, thus, advised that they may apply early so that they could get a centre of their choice.
Selection Process
The Combined Geo-Scientist Examination will consist of three successive stages-
Stage-I : Computer Based Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) having two papers for selection of the candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination. Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit.
Stage-II : Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Descriptive Type) having three papers for selection of candidates for the Personality Test (Stage-III). Marks secured in the Main Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit.
Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview.
How To Apply For UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Recruitment
Candidates are required to apply online only by using the website https://upsconline.nic.in. Candidate should have details of one Photo ID Card viz. Aadhaar Card/Voter Card/PAN Card/Passport/Driving Licence/Any other Photo ID Card issued by the State/Central Government. The details of this Photo ID Card will have to be provided by the candidate while filling up the online application form. The candidates will have to upload a scanned copy of the Photo ID whose details have been provided in the online application by him/her. This Photo ID Card will be used for all future referencing and the candidate is advised to carry this Photo ID Card while appearing for Examination/Personality Test.
