Probe Gains Momentum

The Assam government had constituted a 10-member SIT headed by Special DGP M.P. Gupta to unravel the circumstances behind Garg’s untimely demise. Investigators are currently working through multiple leads in an attempt to reconstruct the chain of events that led to the tragedy.

Meanwhile, entrepreneur and cultural activist Shyamkanu Mahanta has also come under the SIT’s scanner. Sources suggest his arrest could be imminent after he reportedly contacted the CID, expressing willingness to surrender while waiting at an airport lounge.
