March 18, 2026, is shaping up to be a high-voltage day at the box office as Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups goes head-to-head with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, both arriving in theatres on the same date. The impending clash has already set critics, trade analysts and fans debating which film will claim the upper hand.

Interestingly, Toxic seems to have made its move early. Even before promotional campaigns gather pace, the film is carrying the aura of a global spectacle. With no teaser or trailer unveiled yet, the Yash-led project has quietly locked major pre-release deals, creating strong buzz in trade circles and putting rivals on alert.
Toxic’s Record-breaking International Deal
According to a report in Hollywood Reporter India, Toxic has secured a record overseas distribution deal, with Phars Film acquiring the international rights to the film’s Indian-language versions for an advance of Rs 105 crore. The acquisition covers Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam editions, while the English version remains outside the agreement. The move alone underlines the strong demand for the Indian-language cuts across global markets.
Phars Film, known for its dominance overseas, will spearhead the film’s international rollout. Trade insiders are calling it one of the biggest commission-based overseas deals for an Indian title in recent times. What stands out is the timing - the deal was sealed long before aggressive promotions began. So far, only character looks, including Yash’s, have surfaced, yet the buzz has been enough to drive confidence.
A Worldwide Rollout Like Never Before
Toxic isn’t thinking small. The film is being planned for one of the broadest international releases attempted by an Indian production. Most territories worldwide are on the map, barring Nepal, Japan and China. Such scale could significantly boost overseas collections and cushion the film even before domestic numbers come into play.
This isn’t the first milestone either. Earlier, Toxic made headlines by landing a Rs 120 crore distribution deal in the Andhra Pradesh-Telangana circuit - a rare feat for a non-Telugu film. Written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas and directed by Mohandas, the film has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with multiple dubbed versions designed to maximise penetration.
Dhurandhar 2 vs Toxic
The bigger drama now lies in the impending clash. Dhurandhar 2 is locked for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, followed by an OTT debut reportedly in the second week of May on Jio Hotstar. Coincidentally, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups hits cinemas the very same day worldwide. The showdown promises more than just fan wars.

While Dhurandhar 2 banks on franchise loyalty and established recall, Toxic arrives armed with aggressive pre-sales and international muscle. In today’s trade game, screens and scale often matter as much as star power.
With a Rs 105 crore overseas deal already secured, Yash’s film appears to have seized the early advantage - even before the first ticket is sold.
