Will O’Romeo be Shahid Kapoor’s answer to the blockbuster comebacks of Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor?

With the release of O’Romeo scheduled for February 13, the original chocolate boy and the talent hub Shahid Kapoor is once again in the spotlight. Despite being one of the most talented actors in the industry, his last few movies like ‘Deva’, ‘Rangoon’, ‘Jersey’, and many others have failed to give him the much-needed path-breaking success akin to Kabir Singh (2019).

Blockbuster Success Needed

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, O’Romeo reunites the duo for the fourth time after notable films like Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon, movies that earned both critical acclaim and cult followings.

Shahid Kapoor fans are hopeful that O’Romeo will be a blockbuster and give Shahid Kapoor the superstar status like ‘Dhurandhar’ did for Ranveer Singh and ‘Animal’ for Ranbir Kapoor.

The film’s collaboration with Bhardwaj, coupled with the actor’s proven ability to deliver powerful, content-driven performances, gives fans hope. If O’Romeo taps into strong storytelling, emotional resonance, and wider audience appeal — much like Kabir Singh did — it could mark a turning point in Shahid’s career resurgence.

Hopefully, it's Valentine’s weekend release positions it to capitalise on the festive audience turnout, a strategy that worked phenomenally for Kabir Singh. Apart from that, the action romantic thriller co-starring Triptii Dimri is backed by a strong ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Randeep Hooda, and Vikrant Massey.
