The South African-American star Arnold Vosloo- celebrated worldwide as the haunting Imhotep from The Mummy (1999)- has now joined the sets of Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated period drama. A PRO from the team shared a glimpse of the Hollywood actor straight from the location, instantly sparking chatter across social media.

First Look: Arnold on Set

A photo shared by the PRO shows Arnold casually posing beside a crew member near a row of vanity vans. The caption accompanying the post read, “#VD14 | Vijay Devarakonda - Rahul Sankrityan. ‘The Mummy’ Villain South African star #ArnoldVosloo.” (sic)

Fans Relive the ‘Imhotep’ Era

As the picture made its way to Reddit, nostalgic fans chimed in with emotions ranging from awe to childhood memories.

One user wrote, “If someone told little-me that he would be acting in my language movies. I would laugh at ya.” (sic)

Another recalled, “Picha bhayamaithunde veediki appatlo (I used to be so scared of him).” (sic)

The Imhotep chants returned too, with an excited comment- “Imhotep Imhotep Imhotep.” (sic)

VD14: A Period Epic in the Making

Helmed by director Rahul Sankrityan and backed by Mythri Movie Makers, VD14 casts Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. While most of the cast remains under wraps, strong buzz suggests Arnold might play a British officer and possibly the antagonist. Rumours also hint that Rashmika Mandanna may come on board, though nothing has been officially confirmed yet.

A Story Rooted in History

Set between 1854 and 1878, the film unfolds during the peak of British colonial rule in India and draws from true historical events. This marks Vijay’s second collaboration with Rahul after Taxiwaala (2018).
