Lee also secured temporary accommodation for Chase at a local motel, hoping to provide warmth, safety, and stability during the winter. The gesture was widely praised as an act of compassion.

A Shelter That Didn’t Last

Tragically, the relief was short-lived. Within hours, motel staff reported the room had been severely damaged, with furniture overturned and appliances displaced. Chase was asked to leave, ending the temporary shelter Lee had arranged.

Back on the Streets and Facing Challenges

Following the motel incident, Chase returned to living on the streets, highlighting the complexity of homelessness. Lee emphasized that situations involving severe mental health struggles require more than food or shelter; support cannot be forced if the individual is unwilling or unable to accept it.

Chase reportedly struggles with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use issues, with previous attempts at treatment either discontinued or rejected.

Former child actor Shaun Weiss offered help for rehabilitation, but Chase has resisted long-term care.

A Broader Perspective

Chase’s story illustrates the limits of short-term interventions and the importance of structured, long-term mental health and housing support. It also reflects the struggles faced by countless unhoused individuals, showing that viral attention alone cannot solve deep-rooted crises.
