While promoting Project Hail Mary, Goddard confirmed ongoing progress on the sequel, stating, “It’s still in the works. I’m in my writing cave writing. I don’t know how long I’ll be in that writing cave, but whenever I come out, I’ll have news to share,” signaling that scripting remains actively underway.

Neo, Trinity and Morpheus: Who Returns?

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding The Matrix 5 is casting. There has been no official confirmation about whether Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their iconic roles as Neo and Trinity. Reeves has previously expressed openness to revisiting Neo, while Moss appears focused on new ventures, including the upcoming Canadian mystery thriller Yaga, inspired by playwright Kat Sandler’s reinterpretation of Slavic folklore.

Meanwhile, original Morpheus actor Laurence Fishburne has earlier indicated uncertainty about returning, especially after the character’s reinvention in Resurrections, where Yahya Abdul-Mateen II portrayed an AI-based version of Morpheus.

Will Priyanka Chopra Return as Sati?
