In an interview with Times Now, Taapsee admitted that she often questioned whether she would ever be considered a leading heroine, especially when comparing herself to the industry’s biggest divas.

Learning the Hard Way

Taapsee revealed that in her early years, she was extremely hard on herself while trying to learn the basics of the industry. From fashion and makeup to understanding her best camera angles, she felt she knew “nothing” at the time. She described the process as giving herself a constant “beating” in order to improve.

Looking back, the actor said she wishes she had been kinder to herself. “I learnt everything eventually, but the amount of beating I gave myself — it tired me mentally,” she shared, adding that she wishes someone had told her to enjoy the learning process instead of being so self-critical.

Mental Toll and Professional Pressure

The actor also spoke about how this harsh self-evaluation affected her mental health. Taapsee admitted that she would “butcher” herself daily, constantly feeling that she wasn’t good enough. She pointed out how failures in films are often placed solely on actors, even though filmmaking is a collective effort.

“A failure is not just because of you. It’s a cumulative team effort, but it is put on you,” she said, highlighting the unfair burden actors often carry.
