Veteran Hindi cinema icon Dharmendra would have celebrated his 90th birthday on December 8. However, just two weeks before this milestone, the beloved “He-Man” of Bollywood passed away at 89 due to age-related ailments. He breathed his last at his Mumbai residence shortly after being discharged from the hospital.

The funeral took place on November 24 at the Pawan Hans Cremation Centre in Vile Parle. The solemn ceremony was attended by industry stalwarts including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and several others, who came together to bid farewell to the legendary actor.

Asthi Visarjan at Har Ki Pauri

Nine days after Dharmendra’s demise, his family gathered to immerse his ashes. On Wednesday, December 3, his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, grandson Karan Deol, and other family members travelled to Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar to perform the asthi visarjan.

A video that later gained traction online captured the family offering prayers and placing Dharmendra’s ashes into the holy Ganges, with Sunny and Bobby appearing visibly emotional. In the clip, Bobby breaks down in tears and hugs Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol after the ritual.

Sunny Deol Confronts Paparazzi Over Privacy Violation

While the family was engaged in the Hindu ritual, Sunny Deol lost his temper upon noticing photographers capturing the ceremony. In another video circulating widely, he walked up to the paparazzi and angrily questioned their actions.

Sunny can be heard saying, “Kya aap logon ne sharam bech khaayi hai? Paise chaahiye tere ko? Kitne paise chaahiye? (Have you people sold your shame? You want money? How much money do you want?).”

Another old video has resurfaced on social media in light of this incident. In that clip, recorded outside their residence when Dharmendra had returned from the hospital, Sunny is seen reprimanding the paparazzi for their intrusive behaviour.

He said, “Aap ke ghar mein maa baap hai, bachche hai. Chu*** ki tarah video bheje jaa rahe ho. Sharam nahi aati? (Don’t you have mothers and fathers at home? You’re sending these videos continuously. Don’t you feel any shame?).”

Dharmendra’s Final Film To Release Posthumously

Cinema lovers are now awaiting Dharmendra’s final on-screen appearance in Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, which will be released posthumously. Also starring Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, the project is scheduled to arrive in theatres on December 25, offering fans a chance to witness the legend’s artistry one last time. The film also marks the final screen appearance of the veteran actors duo Dharmendra and Asrani. The latter passed away on October 20.
