Earlier this year, Sunny Deol thrilled fans by announcing Jaat 2- a sequel to his blockbuster Jaat. The first installment, directed by Gopichand Malineni and co-starring Randeep Hooda, was a roaring box-office hit. However, in a dramatic twist, recent reports reveal that acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi will now take over the director’s chair for the sequel.

Santoshi Replaces Gopichand Malineni?
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Rajkumar Santoshi has officially signed on to direct the sequel to the 2025 action thriller Jaat. The film is backed by People’s Media Factory and Mythri Movie Makers, who are eager to expand the successful franchise.
With Gopichand Malineni tied up with other projects, Santoshi was the natural choice.
A source was quoted as saying, “The producers and Sunny Deol are confident that Rajkumar Santoshi's direction will raise the stakes even further for the sequel. His experience and style will undoubtedly elevate the world of Jaat.”
Santoshi’s Biggest Paycheque Yet!
Reports also suggest that Rajkumar Santoshi is being rewarded handsomely for his return. The filmmaker has reportedly bagged Rs. 15 crores to helm the project - the highest paycheque of his career. The final paperwork for Jaat 2 is expected to be completed soon.
What Lies Ahead for Jaat 2?
If all goes as planned, Jaat 2 will go on floors in the latter half of 2026, post the release of Lahore: 1947. Fans are eager to witness another cinematic storm from the Deol–Santoshi collaboration - one that has already gifted Indian cinema with Ghayal, Damini, Ghatak, and now, Lahore: 1947.
