‘It’s a Pity, Things Didn’t Work Out’
Reflecting on his past, Saif Ali Khan said he had already discussed the topic several times before, adding that he was only 21 when he got married, an age when many things change.
“We know that things didn’t work out, but apart from having two wonderful children, I don’t think I’ve said before how important Amrita was in my life, to help me understand my way through the film industry, as well as understand quite a few things. Her contribution and help at that time were quite invaluable. It’s a pity, things didn’t work out,” he shared.
During the conversation, Kajol teased that Amrita had “brought up Saif well,” which made him smile and agree lightheartedly.
On Cordial Terms Even Today
Despite their separation, Saif maintains a friendly relationship with Amrita. He described how they communicate over meaningful matters and sometimes during his hospital visits.
“I think my ex-wife and I get along well enough. We usually speak about important things, and usually when I’m in a hospital bed, which is actually quite often. So yeah, it’s a regular kind of contact,” he added with a hint of humour.
Calling her a “wonderful mom,” Saif said he feels lucky to have shared that part of his life with her.
Soha Ali Khan’s Fond Memories of Amrita Singh
Recently, Saif’s sister, Soha Ali Khan also spoke about her bond with Amrita Singh during a podcast with Nayandeep Rakshit. She admitted that the divorce brought a shift not just for the couple but for their families too.

“It’s like when a marriage ends, the families also go through a period of change and adjustment. You may find your own independent equation after some time, but it’s complicated. For me, Amrita was someone I lived with in her house. She looked after me, took me for photoshoots and did so much. We’ve played Scrabble together,” she shared.
