A Female Lead That Challenges the Hero

Sources quoted by Mid-Day suggest that Alia is the director’s first choice for the role. The female character is described as central to the narrative rather than a conventional love interest. She reportedly challenges the hero’s beliefs in a collapsing world marked by scarcity and moral conflict.

“This is an experimental film and needs actors the audience trusts,” a source said, adding that Alia’s credibility and intensity make her ideal for such a role. The film’s world is said to be harsh and unforgiving, steering clear of glossy zombie tropes.

Ranveer Singh’s Foray into Zombie Cinema

Pralay is expected to go on floors between July and August 2026 and will mark Ranveer Singh’s entry into the zombie genre. The film will reimagine Mumbai as a devastated, near-unrecognisable city, using zombies as a metaphor for social, emotional, and moral breakdown. Visual inspiration is reportedly being drawn from The Hunger Games, with plans to combine large physical sets and AI-driven digital extensions to portray decay and abandonment.

What’s Next for Ranveer and Alia

Apart from Pralay, Ranveer has Dhurandhar 2 – Revenge lined up for a March 19, 2026 release, which will clash with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Alia, meanwhile, will be seen in Love and War, which may face a delay, and Alpha.

If finalised, Pralay would mark the duo’s third collaboration after Gully Boy, promising a striking shift from romance to dystopian survival drama.
