Chennai: The nation including all the music lovers who not only loved the mesmerising voice of the legendary playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam (SPB), but revered the Padma Bhushan award-winning singer as the ‘God of music,’ is yet to come to terms with his untimely demise. Condolences poured in from all quarters from politicians to the who’s who of cine-industry following SPB's death from COVID-19.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his grief at the demise of SPB through a tweet that read, “With the unfortunate demise of Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, our cultural world is a lot poorer. A household name across India, his melodious voice and music enthralled audiences for decades...”
Union Home Minister, Amit Shah tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the passing away of legendary musician and playback singer Padma Bhushan, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam ji...”
Similarly, Andhra Pradesh Governor, Biswa Bhusan Harichandan too expressed profound grief & sadness at the demise of the popular playback singer.
Salman Khan, whose song “Mere Rang Main” was immortalised by the late singer, was heartbroken by his demise. An aggrieved Khan tweeted, “Heartbroken to hear about SP Balasubrahmanyam sir... you will forever live on in your undisputed legacy of music! condolence to the family.” (SIC)
Lata Mangeshkar tweeted: "Pratibhashaali gayak, madhurbhashi, bahut nek insan SP Balasubrahmanyam ji ke swargwas ki khabar sunke main bahut vyathit hun. Humne kai gaane saath gaaye, kai shows kiye. Sab baatein yaad aarahi hain. Ishwar unki aatma ko shanti de. Meri samvedanaayein unke pariwar ke saath hain (I am heartbroken to learn about the demise of gifted singer, soft-spoken person and a very good human being SP Balasubrahmanyam. We have recorded so many songs and performed several shows together. I am reminded of those beautiful memories of the olden days. May god rest his soul in peace. My condolences with his family.)" The death of SPB attracted condolences from cricketing fraternity as well. From Suresh Raina to former legends like VVS Laxman all conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family of the singer.
