Mahavatar: A Grand Mythological Saga

Mahavatar marks Vicky Kaushal’s first collaboration with filmmaker Amar Kaushik. The film is based on Lord Parashurama- the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu- and is expected to be one of the biggest mythological films in Hindi cinema.

An earlier report from Bollywood Hungama suggested that Vicky had already begun preparing for the divine role and had given up alcohol and non-vegetarian food to align himself with the disciplined and ascetic lifestyle of the immortal warrior-sage.

Amar Kaushik Responds to the Rumours

During an interview with Filmygyan, Amar Kaushik reacted to the buzz surrounding Vicky’s supposed lifestyle transformation. The filmmaker seemed amused and urged fans not to believe unverified stories circulating online.

He said, "Again, I say the same thing ki kahan se kuch bhi cheez nikalti hai. Please bhaiyon band karo. Jab hum bolein, tabhi uska vishwas karo (something comes out of nowhere. Please, brothers, stop all this. Only believe in something when we say it)."

The Root of the Speculation

According to circulating reports, Vicky Kaushal was said to have given up all ‘taamsik’ foods - including alcohol and meat - following his father Sham Kaushal’s suggestion. The idea was to help him connect deeply with the simple, spiritual essence of Lord Parashurama.

Interestingly, this mirrors Ranbir Kapoor’s reported approach for Ramayana, where he is said to have abstained from alcohol and non-vegetarian food to portray Lord Rama’s purity. Vicky was reportedly planning a similar commitment after completing Love & War, as a gesture of respect towards his upcoming divine role.
