A light-hearted moment during a film promotion recently brought Mrunal Thakur’s personal life back into public focus. The actor was promoting her upcoming film Do Deewane Seher Mein with co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi when a reporter casually mentioned a “Chennai” connection. 

Siddhant immediately turned the moment playful, pointing at Mrunal and joking about whether the question was meant for her or him. Though Mrunal clarified it was for Siddhant, the reporters’ laughter and knowing remarks — “Hum samajh rahe hain” — left her blushing and smiling, turning a simple interaction into viral chatter.

The teasing struck a chord because of ongoing speculation linking Mrunal to Tamil superstar Dhanush, who is based in Chennai. Dating rumours first surfaced last August when the two were spotted together at the premiere of Son of Sardaar 2. Since then, every shared appearance, comment, or online interaction has been closely watched by fans and gossip watchers alike.

Social Media and Wedding Whispers

Fuel was added to the rumours when Dhanush commented on the teaser of Do Deewane Seher Mein, writing, “Looks and sounds good.” Mrunal’s response with heart and sunflower emojis quickly became a talking point online. At one stage, reports even claimed the two were planning a private wedding on February 14, 2026. These claims, however, were later dismissed by sources close to the actors as completely untrue.

The AI-Generated Video That Went Viral

Recently, a video claiming to show Mrunal and Dhanush getting marriedin a traditional South Indian ceremony spread rapidly on social media. Featuring appearances by stars like Vijay, Dulquer Salmaan and Ajith Kumar, the clip appeared convincing at first glance. A closer look revealed it was AI-generated, further highlighting how misinformation has amplified speculation around the two.

Despite the constant buzz, Mrunal has maintained that she is focused on her career, describing herself as “grounded, glowing, and unshaken.” She has also referred to Dhanush as a good friend, emphasising mutual respect.
