Nearly six weeks after its theatrical debut, Aditya Dhar’s high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar continues to redraw box-office history. Fronted by Ranveer Singh, the film is now inching towards the staggering ₹1300 crore mark worldwide, cementing its status as a modern blockbuster phenomenon.
North America Crowns a New Champion
The film has scripted a historic milestone overseas by becoming the highest-grossing Indian film ever in North America. With a gross of $21 million in the US and Canada, Dhurandhar has overtaken SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which held the record for nine years with $20.7 million in 2017.
Overseas Triumph Despite Middle East Setback
While Dhurandhar did not enjoy a full release in the Middle East, its global performance remains formidable. The box-office juggernaut has amassed an impressive $32 million overseas. Back home, it reigns supreme as the highest-grossing Hindi film in India, earning over ₹800 crore net and nearly ₹1000 crore gross.
Outperforming Modern-Era Blockbusters
During its record-breaking North American run, Dhurandhar surpassed the lifetime collections of several recent and iconic hits. These include Kalki 2898 AD, Pathaan, Jawan, RRR, Pushpa 2, Animal, and even Dangal, underlining its extraordinary audience pull.
A Global Footprint Beyond the US
The film’s dominance is not limited to North America alone. Dhurandhar also stands as the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia and currently ranks 13th among the top overseas Indian grossers of all time.
