Filming for Dhurandhar 2 ran into trouble in South Mumbai after police registered a case against the film’s location manager for allegedly flying a drone without permission in a high-security zone.
The incident occurred in the Fort–Ballard Estate area, one of the city’s most sensitive districts due to its proximity to key government offices and financial institutions.
What Led to Police Action
According to reports, the MRA Marg police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) on February 1 against location manager Rinku Rajpal Valmiki under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), citing “willful disobedience of lawful orders of authority.”
Police officials stated that the production team used a drone to film a sequence without securing the mandatory clearance. Although the line producers reportedly had permission from the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited to shoot in the area, drone approval for the high-security zone was not obtained. Authorities immediately intervened after noticing unauthorised aerial activity and ordered the shoot to stop.
Shoot Details and Security Concerns
The incident took place on the third day of the shooting schedule, when actor Sanjay Dutt and the crew were present on set. From January 30, parts of the historic Fort and Ballard Estate area had been transformed to resemble Karachi’s Lyari locality for key sequences.
Local residents also reported that multiple roads, including Fort-Nariman Street and Modi Street, were blocked for filming over three days, drawing additional attention from security personnel. Police sources confirmed that while the location manager was taken into custody briefly for formalities, no further arrests were made. The FIR, however, remains active as investigations continue.

The teaser for Dhurandhar 2 was released on February 3, and the film is scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, 2026. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have reiterated that even high-profile productions must strictly adhere to security protocols, especially when filming in restricted zones.
