Rehman Dakait’s Fate: End or Illusion?

The first film appeared to close the chapter on Dakait. Gravely wounded after a brutal clash with Hamza Ali Mazari (Ranveer Singh) and SP Chaudhary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt), the feared gangster was shown succumbing to his injuries in hospital. The finale also revealed Hamza’s true identity and his takeover of Dakait’s criminal empire, setting the stage for a larger conflict ahead in Dhurandhar 2.

Fans Refuse to Let Go

Despite that seemingly final goodbye, audiences have been vocal about wanting Akshaye Khanna back. Many questioned how Rehman Dakait could return after meeting such a “kasainuma” end, yet hope remained alive across fan forums and comment sections.

Buzz Points to a Dramatic Return

A couple of weeks ago, social media chatter claimed that Rehman Dakait is very much alive in Dhurandhar 2. If true, the sequel could deliver a fiery faceoff between Dakait and Hamza, an encounter fans are already calling inevitable. However, there is no official report backing the claim.

Backstory Over Resurrection? 

Adding another layer to the speculation, a fresh report hints that the sequel may revisit Rehman Dakait through an expanded backstory rather than a full-fledged resurrection.

Filmfare reported, “Our sources confirm that Akshaye Khanna will return to sets for a short one-week shoot, aimed at expanding his character’s backstory and adding more layers to his role in the next chapter of the franchise.”

What the Sequel Explores

Dhurandhar 2 is expected to chart Hamza’s evolution, from Jaskirat Singh Rangi to undercover agent and eventually a dominant force in Lyari’s underworld, while also peeling back the layers of Dakait’s past. Fans had earlier anticipated Hamza’s next target to be Bade Sahab, the shadowy architect of multiple terror attacks.
