Complaint Alleges Derogatory Representation

Bengaluru-based advocate Prashanth Metal submitted the complaint, accusing Ranveer Singh of recreating Rishab Shetty’s Ullalthi Daiva performance during his stage address at the closing ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on 28 November. According to the complaint, while praising Kantara Chapter 1 and its lead star-director, Singh allegedly referred to the Daiva as a 'demon' and 'female ghost', descriptions the complainant claims were derogatory and offensive.

The case has been filed under Sections 299, 302 and 196 of the Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, citing that the actor’s “illegal and offensive actions” hurt religious sentiments and disrespected the Ullalthi Daiva tradition.
