Bhagam Bhag 2 shake-up: Manoj Bajpayee replaces Govinda, teams up with Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal for sequel!

The chaos, confusion and comedy that once defined Bhagam Bhag are set to return, but this time with an unexpected twist. Bhagam Bhag 2 is steadily picking up pace, and the sequel has already surprised fans with a notable casting change. Manoj Bajpayee has reportedly come on board to take over a pivotal role that was earlier linked to Govinda, promising a brand-new flavour to the franchise’s trademark humour.

Manoj Bajpayee Joins the Madness!

As per a report by Variety India, Bajpayee has been locked in as part of the principal cast. His entry replaces Govinda, one of the central figures from the original film. Though Govinda’s participation never took shape, Bajpayee’s sharp screen presence and versatility are expected to introduce a fresh comic dynamic alongside Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal.

What Happened with Govinda?

Interestingly, a 2024 report by Mid-Day stated that Govinda wasn’t approached by the makers for Bhagam Bhag 2. The actor had also set certain conditions related to the script, character, remuneration and director before considering the project.

More Casting Buzz

The sequel’s ensemble may get even bigger. Reports from Box Office Worldwide indicate that Akshaye Khanna is likely to join the film, further strengthening the cast and raising excitement around the comedy caper.

Shooting Plans and New Director

If current reports hold true, cameras will roll next month in March, with Mumbai serving as the primary filming location. Taking charge of the director’s seat is Raaj Shaandilya, known for Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2. He steps in for Priyadarshan, the filmmaker who helmed the original cult comedy.

Akshay’s Busy Calendar

Akki is expected to begin work on Bhagam Bhag 2 soon after wrapping up the ongoing schedule of Anees Bazmee’s untitled comedy entertainer, keeping his packed slate of humour-driven projects intact.

Leading Ladies Finalised

On the female front, Telugu actress Meenakshi Chaudhary has been confirmed as the lead opposite Akshay Kumar. Talks are also underway to cast an actress opposite Manoj Bajpayee. The film marks Meenakshi’s Bollywood return following her debut in Upstarts (2019).

With fresh faces, familiar chaos and a revamped creative team, Bhagam Bhag 2 looks ready to recreate the laughter riot for a new generation.
