Rajamouli Clears the Air: Not Baahubali 3, But Beyond It

During promotions for Baahubali: The Epic, filmmaker SS Rajamouli addressed the swirling rumours about a third live-action instalment. He clarified, "We are releasing the ‘Baahubali - The Eternal War’ teaser. The rumour is that we are announcing ‘Baahubali 3’, but that’s not true. It’s a continuation of the world of Baahubali. It’s an animated film. We released a 2D animated show on Amazon, and this is going to be a 3D animation."

Rajamouli credited producer Shobu Yarlagadda for steering the franchise into new territory. "Producer Shobu has been constantly exploring ways to take the universe forward beyond the ultimate ‘Baahubali 3’. He met a young and talented animation director, Ishan Shukla, who came up with an idea to extend the story- the same characters, but on a different tangent. I really liked the idea. They have been working on the project for almost two and a half years, and now the film’s budget is around Rs 120 crore," said the RRR maker.

New Battles, New Timelines

Unlike Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, The Eternal War ventures into uncharted timelines. The film aims to offer a fresh lens into the enduring impact of Amarendra Baahubali’s legacy - reimagining familiar faces in unexplored dimensions of their journeys.

Prabhas Applauds the Vision

The man behind the mighty Baahubali, Prabhas, expressed his excitement for this ambitious animated expansion. "It’s already a hit if you liked the film. And Rs120 crore- looks like it’s going to be the highest-budget Indian animated film, almost what the initial budget of ‘Baahubali Part 1’ was," said the Rebel Star.

Baahubali: The Epic's Box Office Run

Even as the animated chapter readies for release, the live-action spectacle Baahubali: The Epic continues to captivate audiences. Released on October 31, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 26.10 crore (India net) within its first four days, according to Sacnilk. Early estimates suggest it earned Rs 1.50 crore on its fifth day across all languages.
