Bengaluru minor boy tries to rape software engineer; kills her, sets apartment on fire after she rejected him

A teenage boy has been arrested for allegedly murdering a 34-year-old software engineer after she rejected his advances. The accused then set her apartment on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. What was initially believed to be a tragic fire accident has now been exposed as a cold-blooded murder, sending shockwaves across Bengaluru. 

Apartment Set On Fire To Erase Evidence

The victim was found dead inside her apartment after a blaze was reported by neighbours. At first glance, the incident appeared to be an accidental fire caused by an electrical short circuit. However, a detailed forensic examination revealed chilling details. Officials confirmed that the woman had died due to suffocation even before the fire broke out, ruling out accidental causes and pointing clearly toward homicide.

As the investigation progressed, police uncovered crucial evidence that led them to the accused — a minor who lived in the same apartment complex. Investigators found that the victim’s mobile phone had gone missing. Using technical surveillance, the phone was traced to the teenager, raising immediate suspicion. During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.

Unhealthy Obsession

According to police sources, the teen had developed an unhealthy obsession with the woman and grew resentful after repeated rejection. In a fit of rage, he allegedly entered her apartment, murdered her, and later set the flat on fire to make it appear as an accident. The act of arson was intended to erase evidence and mislead investigators.

The accused has been taken into custody under relevant sections of law, while further investigation is underway. The incident has sparked renewed concern over stalking, obsession, and violence against women, raising serious questions about safety even within residential spaces.
