Sundergarh: Police today recovered the mutilated body of a youth from a forest near a sponge iron factory at Kendrikala village under Bonai Police limits in Sundergarh district.
This morning, when locals spotted the body of the youth with his throat slit and grievous injuries on other parts of the body, they immediately informed police about this, who rushed to the spot along with a scientific team. Police have seized some liquor bottles, a stone with blood stains and a motorcycle from the spot.
Based on the registration number of the bike, preliminary investigation revealed that the youth might be a resident of Jalada area of Rourkela. However, his exact identity is yet to be established.
Meanwhile, some workers of the factory informed that they saw the youth last evening partying with some of his friends in the forest.
While an investigation is underway, initial reports suggest that an altercation might have ensued between them following which they attacked the youth with stone and slit his throat.
