Bhadrak: A youth was allegedly hacked to death by his brother-in-law at Shaidabada village under Haripur panchayat in the district today. The deceased was identified as Sakim Khan.
According to sources, the incident occurred when Sakim had gone to attend nature’s call to a nearby pond this morning. Suddenly, his brother-in-law Bhalu Khan and his associates who were present at the spot attacked him with sharp weapons.
Soon after the incident, Sakim’s father said Bhalu had already married thrice and was going to marry another woman. As this was opposed by Sakim, Bhalu might have hatched a conspiracy to murder him, alleged Sakim’s father.
Meanwhile, palpable tension prevailed in the village after locals torched two auto rickshaws and the house of the accused.
On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and detained Bhalu Khan. Fire brigade officials also reached the spot to douse the flames, added sources.
“The accused has been detained at the Bhadrak Rural police station. Further investigation into the incident is on,” said a police official.
