The debate heats up on whether or not there should be menstrual leave for women across the country. Should women have the option to take leaves when they are menstruating? Responding to a question in Parliament on whether the government is taking any measures to make it compulsory for employers to provide menstrual leave, Union Women & Child Development Minister Smriti Irani said: “As a menstruating woman, menstruation and the menstruation cycle are not a handicap; it’s a natural part of women’s life journey…”
