Transporter shot dead in Balasore; police begin probe

Balasore: A city-based transporter was shot dead in front of his house at Firingipatna under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore. The deceased has been identified as Manas Das.

Sources said miscreants attacked Das soon after he was trying to enter his house at around 11: 30 pm yesterday. Though the exact reason behind the firing is still unclear, it is suspected that the attack could due to personal or business rivalry.

Following the incident, Das was rushed to the hospital in a critical condition. However, he was declared brought dead by doctors.

"The deceased sustained multiple gunshot injuries and was received dead here at the hospital," said Dr Soumya Sambit Behera.

Meanwhile, police has also initiated an investigation into the incident and launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
