Rourkela: One person was killed while his five other associates, all suspected to be robbers, were nabbed after being hit by a truck while trying to loot the vehicle late last night near Rourkela.
According to police, six persons riding two motorcycles followed an iron rod-laden truck going from Kalunga to Ghaziabad (UP) and attempted to loot the moving vehicle at Bagadega ghati.
While two of them managed to mount the moving truck, four others continued to chase the truck with two motorcycles running parallel in either side of the truck, said Rourkela DSP Asim Panda.
When two looters who managed to get into the truck tried to snatch valuables and money from the driver, the latter lost control of the vehicle and hit the other robbers on the motorcycles.
Three of them sustained injuries, while one robber died on the spot after being run over the truck. Two others had a narrow escape from the mishap.
Soon after the incident, police reached the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital. After preliminary probe, police nabbed the two absconding robbers who managed to escape after the incident.
