Sundergarh: It seems there is no stopping to incidents of crime against women and minors in the State as yet again a woman was allegedly gang raped by two persons under Town Police Station limits in Sundergarh district.
According to sources, the incident occurred two days ago when two persons of nearby locality, identified as Darshu Munda and one Lolo waylaid the woman and allegedly raped her while she was returning home.
Soon after the incident, the woman apprised the matter to a local NGO and later lodged a complaint at the Town Police station against the two accused.
"Darshu and Lolo took me to an abandoned house and raped me. However, hearing my screams a few locals rushed to the spot following which the duo fled the spot," the woman said.
Acting on the complaint lodged by the woman, police registered a case and have initiated an investigation into the incident. "Efforts are on to nab the persons involved in the crime. They will soon be arrested and court forwarded. SI KN Barik has been handed over the charge of investigation. The survivor will get justice and we will make sure she gets victim compensation," said Suchitra Jena, Town PS IIC.
