Fake gutkha manufacturing unit busted in Berhampur, 3 arrested

Berhampur: Police on Monday busted an illegal gutkha manufacturing unit at Baunsiapali under Sadar police limits in Berhampur and arrested three persons in this connection.

Acting on a tipoff, a police team along with the Ganjam district Collector and local Tehsildar raided the factory and seized huge quantity of gutkha. Fake packets, machines used for packing the product and other materials have been seized from the unit.

The illegal unit used to pack the gutkhas in packets of different branded companies and was operating in the area since a long time, police informed.

Meanwhile, the arrested trio is being interrogated by the police.
