Dreaded criminal nabbed after Police encounter in Bolangir

Bolangir: Police nabbed a hardcore criminal after a fierce encounter near Mahimunda area under Puintala Police limits in the district on Sunday. During the exchange of fire, criminal Sitaram Rana, involved in several cases of robbery and firing, sustained bullet injuries on his left leg and was admitted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). Later, he was shifted to Burla hospital in Sambalpur after his health condition deteriorated.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Rana near Mahimunda, a team of  police conducted raid late night on Sunday and arrested him after an exchange of fire, said sources. Police have also seized a country-made mouser from him.

"We chased him continuously but he started firing at us. Later, we also retaliated and finally managed to nab him," said Bolangir SDPO, Srimant Barik.
