Double Murder in Odisha Over Suspected Sorcery

Malkangiri: A man and his son were allegedly killed over sorcery suspicion at Maliguda village under Mathili police limits in the district.

Bodies of Sadan Mali and his son Nilendra were recovered from the river bank near the village.

It is suspected that the duo was killed and their bodies were dumped on the riverbed.

According to sources, the villagers had ostracised the victims’ family for the last three years after suspecting them of practicing sorcery.

“A few days back, a girl died in the village. The villagers held my husband responsible for the girl’s death and assaulted him. Now, they killed my husband and son,” the bereaved wife of the man alleged.

Meanwhile, two persons have surrendered before the police in connection with the double murder.
