Balasore: The Sahadevkhunta police on Thursday busted a gang of dacoits and arrested five of its members from Chudakuta Sahi in the district.
Acting on a tip-off, special teams of police conducted simultaneous raids at several places in Chudakuta Sahi late on Thursday night and arrested the five dacoits while they were hatching plans to conduct a robbery in the area.
Several sharp weapons and instruments that the anti-socials used to break doors and windows of the houses during robbery attempts were also seized during the raid.
Sources said two of the arrested persons were wanted in criminal cases pending against at different police station in the district.
“When we raided the area, the anti-socials were conspiring to carry out some criminal activities. We detained them and after verification, it was found that several cases were pending against some of them. They have been arrested and will be court forwarded tomorrow," IIC of Sahadevkhunta police station, Subhransi Sekhar Nayak.
