Rayagada: Rayagada Town Police today nabbed a dreaded criminal H Siva following an encounter in the area. Police said Siva, against whom as many as 50 criminal cases are pending in various police stations of Rayagada and other nearby districts, sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire during a raid. Two police personnel have also been injured.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rayagada Town Police Station conducted a raid in his hideout in the town in the wee hours at around 4 AM. In order to escape the arrest, Siva opened fire and cops retaliated, during which a bullet hit the left knee of Siva. Subsequently, the criminal was nabbed.
Siva was initially admitted to Rayagada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
On the other hand, SI Rigan Kindo and Havildar Dilip Hota who sustained injuries during the gun battle have been admitted to Rayagada headquarters hospital for treatment.
Police sources also claimed that Siva is involved in the recent abduction case of a youth in Sonepur.
