Crackdown On Duplicate FMCG Products In Odisha, 2 Traders Detained

Bolangir: After fake medicines, large quantities of counterfeit Shampoos, face-wash and other FMCG products were seized following raids at Kantabanji area in Bolangir district on Saturday.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Police along with the officials of Hindustan Unilever Ltd conducted raid on several stores in Kantabanji area.

As per reports, several fake products including duplicate shampoo and facewash products were being sold in packs of well known brands since long.

“We were getting complaints from customers over the quality of the products. Basing on such reports, we procured several products from various stores posing as customers. Later, we found that duplicate products were being sold in our company’s name which is a violation,” said Nayantara, legal attorney of Hindustan Unilever Ltd.

Though the value of seized goods is yet to be ascertained, two traders have reportedly been detained by police in this connection. Further investigation is this connection is underway, police said.
