Balasore: Armed miscreants looted silver and gold ornaments from a businessman at gunpoint near Bhogapur in Soro area of Balasore district late on Saturday night. The victim identified as Mahesh Prasad, a native of Miripur in Balsore, runs a jewellery shop in Soro.
According to sources, three armed miscreants intercepted Mahesh while he was returning home on motorcycle after closing his shop yesterday. The miscreants allegedly looted Rs 20,000, silver ornaments weighing 5 kilograms and 50 grams of gold ornaments after terrorising him at gunpoint near a jungle in Bhogapur.
"I was returning home after closing the shop when three armed miscreants stopped me and looted cash and all the jewellery. They also threatened to kill me if I lodged a police compliant in connection with the incident," said Mahesh.
Following the incident, Mahesh lodged a complaint at Simulia Police Station while the cops are investigating the matter.
