Bhubaneswar: Novel Coronavirus or Covid-19 has infected nearly 217 persons in India. Several State governments across the country have stepped up measures to tackle the situation arising out of the Coronavirus outbreak.
In Odisha, two persons have been tested positive for Coronavirus infection while the results of four others are awaited. The State government is pulling all stops and is initiating lockdowns in a phased manner. The State government has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 225 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund for the containment of the Covid19 spread in the State.
Here are the steps undertaken by Odisha Government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus:
1. Gathering of more than seven people will not be allowed in public places from today
2. All standalone restaurants, bars, coffee shops, canteens, eateries of all kinds, where large number of people dine and congregate, to be shut down
3. All temples, mosques, churches, gurudwaras & other religious establishments in Odisha will remain closed for public. Rituals at such institutions will continue uninterrupted.
5. All High-end salons, beauty parlors & spas to remain closed until further orders
6. All malls closed, shops selling groceries, milk and other daily essential commodities to remain open
7. All zoos, eco-tourism destinations to remain closed till March 31
8. To ensure smooth functioning of Public Distribution System, licences of 2,590 fair price shops across the State renewed from April to July, 2020
9. All SC/ST student hostels in Odisha to remain closed from March 25 till June 16. Students to get 3 months’ stipend in advance and the cash will be paid to their guardians
10. Around 48.38 lakh beneficiaries to get four months’ pension in advance. Pension for the months of April, May, June and July to be disbursed to beneficiaries at village-level.

Advisory On Public Transport
All Public Transport including taxis, autorickshaws on hire under all urban local bodies to operate on alternate days. Special disinfection drive will be undertaken in buses and other public means of transport and doors, windows, railings and handles to be cleaned.

Additional Measures To Combat Coronavirus
Odisha government has established 7,176 temporary medical camps in 6,798 gram panchayats. Bed capacity has been increased to 4,22,426.
