In a social media post, former MP Tathagata Satpathy made a sarcastic comment on the recent seizure of huge quantities of gold and silver from Bhubaneswar airport, questioning if they were straight out of Puri Srimandir Ratna Bhandar. The post has now become a topic of discussion.
Taking to his X handle (formerly Twitter), Satpathy wrote, “Straight out of Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath Temple to waiting private aircraft?! Huge quantities of Gold (80+kgs) and Silver (200+kgs) with many other old artefacts seized earlier this evening near Bhubaneswar airport from a Bank ATM (replenishing) vehicle.”
However, no comments could be received from the former Parliamentarian on his post.

On the other hand, the BJP termed his allegations as nothing but his own hallucinations.
Earlier yesterday, the sleuths of the commercial taxes and GST had seized gold weighing 50 kilograms and silver weighing 80 kilograms from a logistics van near Bhubaneswar airport on Monday. They were reportedly tipped off that the yellow metal worth Rs 60 crore was being transported to 20 jewellery shops. During the investigation, it came to the fore that accurate taxes on the jewellery being transported were not deposited.
The GST department has launched a detailed probe into it.
