The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for heat wave for several Odisha districts starting Friday.
According to a bulletin issued by the regional weather office, the heat wave condition will prevail for at least three days with a rise in maximum temperature (day temperature) by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the next three days till March 31.
However on April 2, light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of the districts of Odisha, the IMD predicted.
Meanwhile, Jharsuguda emerged hottest in the State as mercury shot up to 41.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Hirakud (40.1), Sambalpur (40), Rourkela (39.4), Chandbali (38.8), Bhubaneswar (38.8) and Keonjhar (37).
