He is in his 80s, but still going strong. Prahallad Pani from Bhadrak transforms lifeless materials like wood, bamboo, and canvas into beautiful household items, using his art to convey messages to society. His artworks raise awareness about social issues such as alcohol use and violence against women. Beyond this, Prahallad has also focused on significant events like the Eram Massacre and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Known affectionately as Guru Prahallad, he has been celebrated for his art both within the state and beyond. People admire both his magical touch with the paintbrush and the hidden enchantment of his innermost thoughts. He has taught many young men from his village, and guided them to eke out a living for themselves.
Local residents believe that with government support, Prahallad's art could be exhibited throughout the state and even outside Odisha as well.
