CM calls emergency meeting to discuss dengue

Bhubaneswar: CM Naveen Patnaik has called an emergency meeting on Thursday afternoon to discuss the preventive measures taken to combat dengue.

Earlier on Wednesday, three more persons succumbed to dengue. Hence the death toll in the disease rose to six in the state.

While four persons from the worst affected Angul district have died due to the mosquito borne disease, one person each died in Bolangir and Dhenkanal district, a senior Health department official said

As many as 135 patients have so far been diagnosed to be suffering from dengue, which has spread its tentacles in 10 of the 30 districts of the state, Director of Health Services Kashinath Nayak said.

Seventy-one blood samples were detected dengue positive at SCB Medical College Hospital at Cuttack, while 64 samples were found to be dengue cases during examination in private hospitals and diagnostic centres, sources said.
