A devastating fire broke out at a mattress factory near Mancheswar Railway Station in Bhubaneswar late on Saturday night, destroying materials worth lakhs of rupees.

Although no casualties were reported, the fire spread so rapidly that the surrounding area was blanketed in thick smoke, causing panic among locals.

Fire Engulfs Flammable Goods

The fire, which broke out suddenly, quickly consumed large quantities of foam, plastic, cotton, and cloth stored inside the factory. These highly flammable materials allowed the blaze to grow rapidly, turning the entire unit into an inferno.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing flames shoot into the air as the factory was engulfed within minutes.

No Loss of Life, But Heavy Damages

Fortunately, no workers or bystanders were injured in the incident. However, the fire caused significant financial loss to the factory, with preliminary estimates suggesting damages running into several lakhs.

The smoke from the burning materials reduced visibility in the surrounding area and posed a health hazard to residents nearby.
