A shocking case of financial fraud came to light in Chandanpur area in Odisha’s Puri district, where police seized over 20 kg gold and a huge amount of cash from the house of a woman on Tuesday.

The accused has been identified as Tilottama Pradhan. She has been arrested by the police following the seizure.

Reports suggest that during an investigation into a financial fraud case, the police discovered a trolley filled with Rs 500 currency notes and a large quantity of gold.

Seized Items So Far:

According to preliminary information, more than 20 kg of gold ornaments, including gold statues of elephants, were found in the woman’s possession.

The police have arrested Pradhan and are interrogating her to determine the source of the wealth. Officials are investigating how she acquired such a vast amount of cash and gold, said sources.

There are speculations that the case may be linked to an illegal money circulation scheme, often referred to as "Hanuman Paisa."

However, no official statement has been released from the accused. Meanwhile, the police continue their probe to uncover the full extent of the financial dealings behind this shocking discovery.

“We have arrested Tilottama Pradhan and forwarded her to the court. Besides, we have recovered the blank cheques and frozen her bank accounts. Further investigation into the matter is on,” said Bhuban Samantaray, Chandanpur police station inspector in-charge.
