Ind Vs NZ: Sarfaraz Khan slams maiden test hundred as India give strong fight back

Mumbai-born Sarfaraz Khan hit his maiden Test century against New Zealand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India was earlier dismissed for 46 runs, raising questions about their batting on a bowler-friendly pitch. Rachin Ravindra scored 134 and Tim Southee added 65 as New Zealand posted 402. India responded with Rohit Sharma scoring 52, and Sarfaraz's partnership of 136 runs with Virat Kohli helped stabilise India at 276-3.

After scoring tons of runs in the Ranji Trophy, Mumbai-born Sarfaraz Khan has grabbed his opportunity with both hands as he slammed his maiden test hundred against New Zealand in M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This comes after India was bundled out for a mere 46 runs during their 1st Innings. Lots of questions were raised regarding the lack of application shown by Indian batsmen in bowling-friendly conditions.

After Rachin Ravindra’s magical knock of 134 and Tim Southee's late blitz of 65 runs, New Zealand managed to score 402 runs in their 1st innings. India responded well with the bat with Rohit Sharma (52) and Yashavi Jaiswal (27) providing the perfect start for India. 

As India lossing 2 wickets for 95 runs, Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan with a reguarded effort took the responsibility of stabilizing the India innings as they stitched an excellent partnership of 136 runs. India lost the wicket of Virat Kohli for 70 runs on the last ball of the test match on Day 3. 

As things stands now, India are 287-3 and currently trailing by 69 with Sarfaraz Khan looking solid with 106 runs and Rishabh Pant batting on 18.
