Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said he respected his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh`s sentiments describing him as a "man of peace" following their talks on the sidelines of the SAARC Summit in the Maldives.

"I respect his sentiments," Gilani told reporters when asked to comment on Singh`s remarks. "We all are working for peace. He really wants better relations with the neighbours," Gilani said, adding he is sincere in building brigdes.

Prime Minister Singh told reporters on Friday that he had always regarded Gilani as a man of peace. "Every time I have met him in the last three years, this belief has been further strengthened," Singh said.

When Gilani was asked by journalists to comment on Singh`s remarks that the "time has come to write a new chapter in the history of our relationship", he said: "We will see soon."
